on suse 6.4 you can edit the etc/rc.config file.
somewhere (far down) there is an entry "START_SQUID" which you can set to
"yes" to start squid on every boot.
you may either use yast to set this switch

Hi all,
I have finally mastered installing and compiling squid (squid-2.3STABLE4)
but am having one final dificulty. On the Squid FAQ it states "Squid-2 has
a restart feature built in.... you don't need to use RunCache or inittab."
Now I have squid running smooth, but what do you do to autostart it upon
booting? The only documentations i've found in the archive have all lead to
dead ends, or files/folders that don't exsist on suse6.4. and all have been
tried and tested.
Does anyone have an answer for this problem?

Regards,
