NTLM Auth for squid operates ~ the same way as MS Proxyserver 2.0, or MS
IAS. It access a backend-user database via SMB using NTLMSSP as the
login mechanism. It is seamless to the user (assuming they have a domain
account.)

It has been used successfully with SAMBA, NT 4 service pack ?, and win2k
smb servers.
