That only works if you happen to have the linux sys-v type init scripts on
the machine i.e, wont work on something like BSD - so aside from doing a
"kill `cat /var/run/squid.pid`" which only works if squid is leaving its PID
somewhere (/var/run/squid.pid" in this case) - you can do a "squid -k
shutdown" to stop it - and then a "squid -sY" to restart again and become a
daemon - else if you just want to re-apply configuration changes - "squid -k
reconfigure"...

Obviously you prefix the above commands with the path to the squid binary...
;-)
