[SQU] DNS tests failing on startup

Folks,
I am running Squid 2.4-PRESTABLE on a Sun Solaris box. Today,
for some reason, when I try to restart squid it bitches that the DNS
tests fail. I am using internal DNS and allowing squid to pick up my
/etc/resolv.conf (though I did try pointing it directly at the DNS
servers without success). DNS on the machine _is_ functioning,
nslookup on the test sites works ok. Doing a snoop on the network
interface shows squid does not even _try_ to talk to the DNS server.
Currently I have started squid with the -D option and it appears to be
working ok, I can see name queries from squid going out and being
responded to. Any clues?
