Hi,
Please bare with me..
I am a little worried about my squid memory issues when I see things like
this.
1. Resource usage for squid:
         UP Time:	3822854.197 seconds
         CPU Time:	20781.400 seconds
         CPU Usage:	0.54%
CPU Usage, 5 minute avg:	1.12%
CPU Usage, 60 minute avg:	0.72%
         Maximum Resident Size: 0 KB
         Page faults with physical i/o: 299894571 <--- #### Is this a lot?
2.	Memory usage for squid via mallinfo():
Total space in arena: 219853 KB
Ordinary blocks: 216384 KB 157571 blks
Small blocks: 0 KB 0 blks
Holding blocks: 8228 KB 7 blks
        Free Small blocks: 0 KB
        Free Ordinary blocks: 3469 KB
Total in use: 224612 KB 102%
        Total free: 3469 KB 2% <--- #### That does not equal 100%
To give you a bit more background on the matter.
I run a 60gig Squid Object Cache: Version 2.3.STABLE1 proxy server. I have
a Watchguard firewall and i force everyone connecting on port 80 throught
the proxy server on 3128.
Proxy server specs:
CPU p3 450mhz
RAM 128
HD 3 x 30gig scsi 10k rpm (2 are mounted as /cache1 and /cache2)
I receive about 50-100 hits a minute at this stage.
I am just a little conecerned on the following 2 statistics as seen above.
Do I need more Ram in this machine perhaps? to fix the 2% Total free memory?
How would i reduce the number of Page faults with physical i/o: 299894571 ?
(Is this number abnormal)?
Please let me know your opinion(s) on this.
Kind regards
- Ben McKellar
