[SQU] parent cache

I have the following problem I have a pranet cache
that i want to be contacted only if the file is
*.mp3.

My config is:

acl test url_regex -i *\.mp3$
cache_peer test.proxy.com parent 3128
never_direct allow test
always_direct deny test
                            

But the problem is that if the cache is unreachable
it will not go direct.

How to make it go direct, because I get sometimes
the error message the parent cache is unreachable
or it waits and waits?

Should prefer_direct be set to off btw?
