Hi all,

I am trying to set up SNMP on my 2 caches, I have tried many things but
cannot get a response from snmpwalk on port 3401 other than:

Timeout: No Response from yaffle (yaffle is my host)

And in the syslog I get the message:

Mar 13 10:46:55 yaffle squid[948]: Failed SNMP agent query from :
137.44.18.205.

I have been trying for a couple of weeks now albeit half heartedly to get
this to work trying various combinations of acls, changing the SNMP port to
161 and switching off my SNMP demon. I have had no success whatsoever.

When I start squid I get this message in syslog:

Mar 13 10:42:22 yaffle squid[948]: Accepting SNMP messages on port
3401, FD 35.

Which leads me to believe that SNMP is running correctly.

I have looked at the SNMP FAQ at
http://www.squid-cache.org/Doc/FAQ/FAQ-18.html
<http://www.squid-cache.org/Doc/FAQ/FAQ-18.html> but still to no avail.

Can someone give me some guidance on how to get this up and running.

Many thanks in advance,

Jezz Palmer.
