[squid-users] strange stuff with filedescriptors

hi all there.
I'm reading this mail list since a lot of time, but thats the first time I
need help from you ....

after upgrading to kernel 2.4.2 my squid started to run out of file
descriptors. I am now working on increasing the file descriptors .... but
this is the other side. The problem is that 1024 file descriptors were
more than enough for me for a long time and even on higher loads than the
current. I should probably mention that i'm using transparent proxy with
netfilter. I've read somewhere about problems combining iptables/squid
due to some kind of timeouts. Regredably i couldn't find the page again.
After I saw there is a new --enable-linux-netfilter option to the
configure script in squid 2.4.x I decided it could solve the
problem. Grabbed the last auto-generated tarball but the same thing.

Any ideas ?

Best regards
jiv
