Not sure I understand the question, but:

authenticate_program is a command line for a password validator used in
Basic HTTP authentication. What arguments you send is up to you and the
validation program you use, Squid does not care.

If you are asking about Digest HTTP authentication then this is
available in early beta as part of Squid-2.5-alpha
(http://www.squid-cache.org/Versions/v2/2.5/)
