[squid-users] squid process

Hello,

I use Redhat 6.2, and the version of squid is 2.3 stable_1.
After squid is running, I type "ps" to see process table.
I found following tree entres. Why does squid need 3 process?
Could you teach me? Thanks a lot.

root 813 XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Squid -D
squid 814 XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (squid) -D
squid 815 XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (unlink)
