memory_pools on works for me.

looks it's fairly broken. without memory_pools (so squid use system
malloc) it grows unlimited on my system too.

but with 18GB storage it's quite possible usage. aproximate memory needs
is 5MB per gigabyte of storage+cache_mem+up_to_10MB
