Of course. Still, non-conforing server may not do this.

I am unaware of _any_ user agents that routinely use Transfer-Encoding.
And HTTP/1.1 mandates that squid will never recieve transfer-encoded
messages (while it makes 1.0 requests) which is why I didn't mention it.
Of course, non-conformant servers may still exist.
