[squid-users] popup IE5 appears 2 or 3 times before authentificating

I currently have a authentication problem with one of our proxyservers in
France. The popup box on the client machines appear 2 or 3 times, in stead
of just authenticating once. Eventually it does it.
I thought it might have anything to do with the token ring network they are
in. Does anyone have a clue?

Clients use windows with IE5.
The squidserver is a PII350 with 128Mb RAM, kernel 2.2.14-5.0, redhat v6.2
I used squid v2.3 STABLE4 with smb_auth authentification
