[squid-users] FYI - Solaris 7 w/ Squid 2.3.Stable4 (Formarly SSL Problem)

Hello,
This is just an FYI on my previous problem. What I was experiencing on
Solaris 7 with Squid 2.3.S4 was that with a particular site (the only problem
that I know of anyway) we were getting a 'timeout' problem with SSL sessions.
After entering your userid, password, and clicking the logon button it would
hang... if you keep clicking the logon button (keep sending SSL CONNECTS) the
session would eventually work. In the Squid logs, you can see each entry. If
you sniff/trace the connectiong it appears that Squid sends a FIN and is waiting
for a FIN/ACK back from the webserver. On an AIX copy of Squid, it will send
the FIN, but will not wait for a FIN/ACK response.
Not until recently did I get another Sun box to work with. When I tested
the same URL, everything worked perfectly. At first I though it might have been
some code level, since the box that was not working was an E3500 (2 cpu) and the
new working box was a 250? (1 cpu). Both with Solaris 7, and the same compiled
copy of Squid. After checking every possible TCP/IP stack and system settings,
I tried checking the patch levels. This is when I noticed the difference
software levels. I downloaded the latest patches and everything started
working.

Moral of the story... if you checked everything and it's still not working,
try getting the latest patches.

Thanks,
Larry

PS - This must be a SUN / Solaris thing, because from a few Unix Admins here
they seem to think that this type of behaviour for Solaris is normal.
