[squid-users] No caching

I installed squid4.2Stable1
FAQ says that it is possible to disable caching(that's what I want) and make squid only proxy requests.In order to accomplish that the following must be changed in squid.conf file:

With Squid-2.4 and later you can use the ``null'' storage module:

        cache_dir null -1 1000

When I put exactly the same line in squid.conf
cache_dir null -1 1000
When I try to start squid I receive error message:
FATAL:Unknown cache_dir type 'null '

Can anyone tell me what is wrong here?
