Are you running linux 2.4? if so then the problem may be the ECN issue
reported before.

Also, just disabling the proxy setting in your browser _is not_ a
reliable test - you are actually disabling two things:
1) the squid settings - parents, dns etc
2) the network settings of the server squid is running on.

So I suggest that you test the failing site from the box squid is
running on, (say with lynx if you don't have a gui browser on that
machine).

Chances are that that will fail too, and you'll know that squid is most
likely ok, but the machine that squid is on is misconfigured.
