Hi all
i hv currently installed squid 2.4 stable 1 on the
foll h/w
compaq prolinea 5500 with P111 xeon
512 MB ram
6 drives of 9GB each
compaq 3200 smart array controller

ihv configured RAID 0 ON 4 of the hard drives as
/dev/ida/c0d0p1 and
parttioned it as /cache using ReiserFs
squid has been compiled with async-io option
my squid.conf has
cache_dir aufs /cache 10000 25 256
cache_mem 128 MB

is this an okay config??
do i need to raid 0 the drives or create 4 seperate
cache_dir partitions
is the cache_mem/cache-dir size ratio okay
i m using 10 GB out of the possible 34Gb of the /cache
partition

i hv also enabled wccp on the squid box as well as
cisco 7513 router IOS 12.5
although cisco sho ip wccp we gives okay results abt
wccp handshaking yet it show s the squid box as
"unusable" and gives 0.3 as the version number
ip_wccp is loaded as a module

PLS help me out

thanks in advance

pls help me out

P.S -- also
i installed squid from redhat 7.1 rpm squid2.3 stable4
the h/w is compaq prolinea with 550 Mhz dual cpu with
512 MB ram
squid has been given 128 MB ram and cache_dir is 4 GB
we load tested it and the performance was just awful
i know that nuthin has been yet optimised but is this
performance acceptable
requests were abt 7/sec
is this kind of behaviour normal even for an
unoptimised box
any comments
rgds
