[squid-users] Not all squid related

Hi,

I know this isn't directly a squid related question,
but I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I've setup a firewall with squid on it.
RedHat 7.1 and Squid 2.3

Now I'd like to learn how to manage, monitor and maintain this linux box
better.

What I mean is, where can I go to find out how to do the following and
advance my linux skills.
- Monitor General Linux performance,
ie cpu and application load (some people here where talking about rep/min
ect ect)
- Monitor incoming and outgoing traffic
(can I break it down by protocol? eg like MRTG but per each protocol)
- Backup and Recovery solutions
- Scripting (for bash and sh ect ect)
- Advanced commands... ?

I could carry on with this list but I realise that this isn't the right
mailing list,
but most of you seem very clued up with linux, at the stage where I'd like
to be.
Basically I'd like to self teach myself all that is usefull with linux.

If any can point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it.

Thanking you in advance,
and appologising for using this mailing list for the wrong purpose.
