had a problem today where squid stopped accepting connections, last
messages in
system log before problem occurred are shown below. we're running Squid
2.4 STABLE1
on FreeBSD 4.3-Stable. Anyone know what these entries indicate
specifically?

Oct 9 10:29:43 squid-cpf squid[95467]: comm_accept: FD 7: (53) Software
caused
connection abort
Oct 9 10:29:43 squid-cpf squid[95467]: httpAccept: FD 7: accept
failure: (53) S
oftware caused connection abort
Oct 9 11:48:46 squid-cpf squid[95467]: comm_accept: FD 7: (53) Software
caused
connection abort
Oct 9 11:48:46 squid-cpf squid[95467]: httpAccept: FD 7: accept
failure: (53) S
oftware caused connection abort

the system appeared to be wedged when I tried to get into the box after
users reported
the http proxy was down. ended up having to give the box the red
switch. wasn't cpu
bound as my mrtg charts look fine right up to when the problem occurred
at 12:15.
the box has dual 450Mhz P-II's with 512M memory. squid cache_mem is set
to 128M ...
looked at the 4 or so fixes that 2.4 STABLE2 has over STABLE1 none seem
to fit this
scenario. All this box does is squid, the hardware should be way
overkill.
