store operation in squid

hi all,
in programmer_guide chapter 8 is written:
"For each object the StoreEntry maps to a cache_dir and location via sdirn and sfilen"
i don't understand these words:
cache_dir
sdirn
sfilen
and also i don't know the meaning of
cache swap file
please tell me what do these words mean.
