[squid-users] user auth problem !

hi all,

i am not getting user authenticated using pam_auth or getpwnam.. i get
repeted query for username & password at my browser.. i tried browsing
from 127.0.0.01 & from internal lan pc...

acl used are-->

acl office proxy_auth REQUIRED
http_access allow office all
http_access deny all

authnticate........... /usr/.....pam_auth /etc/passwd
authenticate.........../usr/...getpwnam_auth /etc/passwd
authn................................... /usr/local/squid/etc/passwd

pam file was as stated in pam_auth.c & even tried a bit of modifcations.

still the username & password repeated & authentication ultimately not
being allowed !

can anyone help me wiht this coz as i said i have to provide the
managemt with the internet usage of my office staff...
