[squid-users] Newbie for setting squid

Hi all:

I just start playing around with squid. I install the
squid-2.3.STABLE4-10 in a Red Hat 7.1 Laptop. I just want to start with
very sample case to get the basic concept. My laptop has a modem and Lan
card. I want to config squid proxy server to block certain URL and log
http sessions.

I use the modem to connect to internet via ISP. The ISP has a proxy
server (ie proxy.myisp.com port 8080). I want to add a local squid proxy
for URL blocking and HTTP session logging.

At this stage, I just want set my Web Browser's proxy to my local
proxy (say 192.168.1.8 port 3128 which is the ip-address of my Laptop)
and I can just serve the net as if I use the direct internet connection.

Can anyone give some hint what I need to modify the squid.conf
file in order to achieve the above objective?

I try to put parent cache to my isp proxy for cache hierarchy but
it does not work..
(ie cache_peer imsproxy01.netvigator.com parent 3128 3130 default)

Any help will be greatly appreciated .....

Thanks,
Kevin LEE
