[squid-users] Interception Caching/Proxying (aka transparent proxy)

I'm considering the use of Interception Caching/Proxying.

Has anyone here used the "route maps" feature successfully in Cisco's IOS?

Did you use Port Address Translation? I haven't worked on a Cisco
router since IOS 10.3 - they didn't support NATs in those days.

So, how it done now? Assuming you're intercepting pkts from

   Client_Any_IP -> Any_IP:Port 80 -> Proxy_IP:Port 80 -> Internet -> Client_Any_IP

I looked at NAT and PAT technotes, but I'd really like to see some
real-world examples... of How It's Done. Or stories about what it took
to get things to work.

Even more interesting would be stories about putting the proxy machines
behind some kind of load-balancer... :-)
