Hello squid-users,

i'm a newbie linux admin. i'm setting up squid.

when i say './squid -k reconfigure' i see in syslog:
Dec 28 14:45:11 ns (squid): Unable to open configuration file: /usr/local/squid/etc/squid.conf: (13) Permission denied

and in squid/logs/cache.log:
2001/12/28 14:45:11| Restarting Squid Cache (version 2.4.STABLE2)...
2001/12/28 14:45:11| FD 12 Closing HTTP connection
2001/12/28 14:45:11| storeDirWriteCleanLogs: Starting...
2001/12/28 14:45:11| Finished. Wrote 606 entries.
2001/12/28 14:45:11| Took 0.0 seconds (143228.6 entries/sec).
FATAL: Unable to open configuration file: /usr/local/squid//etc/squid.conf: (13) P
ermission denied
Squid Cache (Version 2.4.STABLE2): Terminated abnormally.

then it restarts OK and works fine (as i can see).

if i say './squid -k shutdown' and then './squid' then everything is
ok - i see no error messages

i use linux 2.4.17 (on 2.4.15 and 2.4.16-pre1 it was the same) and Squid Cache: Version 2.4.STABLE2

what can it be? file permissions seem to be ok - they're configured as
said in squid users guide

ps. merry xmas and happy new year to you all! =)
