[squid-users] squid & md5

I am having trouble understand the right
compilation/configuration of squid with md5.

I've tried everything according the squid's FAQ and also
tried a perl script called squidauth.pl, referenced
within /etc/squid/squid.conf.

Squid works, but simply doesn't request any
authentication. I can't find anything in the Web.

I have to use MD5 because another server already uses it
and I'd like to have the same users and passwords.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
