Hi

I am using squid 2.3-10 on a dual CPU P-III, 512 MB RAM & 36 *2 SCSI HDDs. The issue is that I'm an ISP & using Squid as transparent proxy. The mrtg graphs are given below. I'm being bogged down by heavy CPU usage of squid. squid is going up to 99% load on both CPUs & minimum is about 66%.

Performance is suffering heavily due to this.

`Daily' Graph (5 Minute Average)

Max HTTP hits 103.0 req/min Average HTTP hits 29.0 req/min Current HTTP hits 45.0 req/min
Max HTTP requests 153.0 req/min Average HTTP requests 43.0 req/min Current HTTP requests 82.0 req/min
      Max Percentage 1400.0 % Average Percentage 69.0 % Current Percentage 54.0 %

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

`Weekly' Graph (30 Minute Average)

Max HTTP hits 145.0 req/min Average HTTP hits 17.0 req/min Current HTTP hits 17.0 req/min
Max HTTP requests 167.0 req/min Average HTTP requests 30.0 req/min Current HTTP requests 32.0 req/min
      Max Percentage 870.0 % Average Percentage 58.0 % Current Percentage 53.0 %

Please help. Thanks in advance

Regards

Abhishek Dewan
