Re: [squid-users] Ip_wccp & Linux kernel 2.4.9-31

Thanks a whole bunch Joe!! I finally got Jorge's 2.4.18-ip_wccp patch
to compile and it is working now. However I do plan to move to GRE and
will use your patch.

I discovered nobody's ip_wccp or ip_gre patches or even the original
ip_gre.c will load without "unresolved symbol" if compiled in the RedHat
2.4.9-31 kernel source tree that is installed in /usr/src/linux-2.4.9-31
if you install the kernel-source-2.4.9-31.i386.rpm. Apparently Redhat
heavily patches the 2.4.9 kernel source before building the 2.4.9-31
kernel package.

So.... after beating my head for several hours over this, I installed
the kernel-2.4.9-31.src.rpm, ran rpm -bi, and then patched the source
tree in /usr/src/redhat/BUILD . This was the only way I could get any
modules to build that would load correctly. If anyone wants more
details of this ugly, messy business, contact me.

I apologize to everyone on the list for this long winded posting, but I
hope it may save someone else some grief when working with RedHat
2.4.9-31 kernels.

Tom
