For a start the current version is 2.4.STABLE6, why upgrading to a
version where there is a lot of known errors? (see
http://www.squid-cache.org/Versions/v2/2.4/bugs/)

Second, do you also get this error if you run without all this
debugging enabled? I seem to recall that there was a error with some
debugging code in earlier 2.4 releases..
