[squid-users] Specify proxy as name or IP address?

[Sorry for the non-Squid-specific question, but I figure you guys will
know the answer to this.]

When specifying a proxy for Internet Explorer on a Win98 system, is it
better to provide the full name of the machine running the proxy, or its
IP address?

I'm wondering if a full name would have to be resolved on each URL fetched
by the browser, where an IP address could just be contacted without name
resolution.
