Because it is a gross TCP/IP hack way outside any standards, in direct
conflict with Internet Standard "STD-0003 Requirements for Internet Hosts"
and Internet Standard "STD-0005 Internet Protocol". These two standards are
the very foundation of the Internet TCP/IP standards and it is not advisable
to intentionally break such standards.

There is a number of things at the TCP level that can get badly confused by
such hacks. The most well known is Patch MTU discovery, not to mention
application level issues...
