 You need to define the used 'methods' in squid.conf,
 see 'extension_methods' in squid.conf.

 Btw, you need a recent version of squid.

 As far as you can not bring down your squid, that is
 'bad luck'.

 Presumably at least 'squid -k reconfigure' will be needed
 after making these changes in squid.conf.
