Hello,

I'm trying to configure squid about Webmin. I'm running Webmin as root, thats why I uncommented
"cache_effective_user squid" in squid.conf.

Webmmin shows the following error-report:
Your Squid cache directory has not been initialized. This must be done before Squid can be run!

If I try initializing cache by "squid -f /etc/squid.conf -z"
and there follows output: Creating Swap Directories.

Thats all, but theres no further information on standard out, but cache isnt initialized
afterwards.

In Log-file cache.log I get following error messages when trying to start squid:

CPU Usage: 0.000 seconds = 0.000 user + 0.000 sys
Maximum Resident Size: 0 KB
Page faults with physical i/o: 283
2002/08/22 09:33:35| Starting Squid Cache version 2.4.STABLE3 for i686-pc-linux-gnu...
2002/08/22 09:33:35| Process ID 1957

2002/08/22 09:33:35| Performing DNS Tests...
FATAL: ipcache_init: DNS name lookup tests failed.
Squid Cache (Version 2.4.STABLE3): Terminated abnormally.

What is wrong about my configuration, any idea?

Best regards
