also check squid.out & squid_cache.log too for info.

DIRECT/1.2.3.4 doesn't look right

what do you have set for the following values:
httpd_accel_host
httpd_accel_port
httpd_accel_single_host
httpd_accel_with_proxy
httpd_accel_uses_host_header

You are getting a connection to squid successfully on port:85 otherwise you
wouldn't see the access denied in your
browser (nor the info in your logs) but you still need to properly
configure squid.
I would suggest if you dont know what to put for the above values then read
the FAQ again!
