[squid-users] Squid LAN transfer performance slow

Hi,

I'm having problems with the squid transfer performance. Clients on the LAN
only get transfer speeds from the server running squid in the range of 150 to
300 KB/s, but if they go around squid and i.e. gets a large file from a
webserver running on the same box, they'll acheive around 4-5 MB/s.

What could be causing such a major slowdown?

The box is running Linux with Squid 2.5 STABLE 1. I've tried running it as a
transparent cache and as a normal cache. It's configured to use async-io and
the dlmalloc lib. Delay pools not enabled.

The client in example is running WinXP using Opera as webbrowser.
