Answering my own question here.

It appears that the above warning has ceased (no warnings since last
Thursday) and may have been due to the cache being actively built (ie
lots more writes to the cache than normal, causing some congestion
occasionally.

I assume the other people who were reporting the above also suffered
similarly and as long as the cause (lots of writes) went away, so did
the symptoms.
