Due to a recent event where relatively large emails with binary
attachments was sent to the list, overloading the bandwidth allocated
to the list, and a history of this happening every now and then there
is now a enforced limit of 50KB per message.

Squid-users is for discussion. Please DO NOT post binaries or very
large files to the mailinglist. See below for further instructions on
how to deal with such files.

50KB is selected to be more than sufficient for discussions, but small
enough to not allow posting of unabbreviated squid.conf files or
attached binaries.

Some guidelines on when and how to post files to squid-users:

a) squid.conf.

When posting your squid.conf, only post the lines relevant to the
question. If you for some reason needs to post your whole squid.conf
file make sure to first remove the commented documentation. Removing
the commented documentation is also generally recommended to allow
you to more easily get a overview of your squid.conf configuration.
You always have squid.conf.default if you need to look into the
documentation.

b) Squid patches or helper applications.

Small patches or helpers is OK to post on squid-users and should
usually not have any problem due to the 50K limit. If you post a
patch or helper to squid-users please remember to also include
squid-dev@squid-cache.org. Not all Squid developers are subscribed to
squid-users due to time constraints.

Larger patches should be published on a web site and a URL to this web
site posted to squid-users (and squid-dev). If you do not have a
suitable web site to publish your patch or helper please contact
squid-dev@squid-cache.org.

c) Log files.

Log files should not be posted in their entire on squid-users, only
small fragments known to be related to your question, not more than
about 80 lines.

d) Binary vendor patches for OS or browser issues

Should NOT be posted on squid-users, nor should you trust any such
patches received via email. Instead post a URL to where the patch can
be downloaded from the vendor.

The Squid HTTP Proxy team
