But once the thread is created there shouldn't be any performance/
throughput issue, should there? I mean creating a thread increases
latency but not the data transfer rate.

Configuration:

        Squid Cache: Version 2.5.STABLE1
        configure options: --prefix=/opt/squid --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var/spool/squid --enable-carp --enable-async-io --with-dl --enable-icmp --enable-snmp --enable-htcp --enable-ssl '--enable-removal-policies=heap lru' --enable-storeio=ufs,aufs,diskd --disable-poll

I compiled it with and without --disable-poll.

Just had a quick look to the Bugzilla database with known bugs for 2.5.
I think none touches my problem.

Is there any more data that I can provide to get this issue addressed?

Anybody else here who has a similar hardware/software configuration?
