yes. your 36GB scsi needs approx 360MB of ram... figure 100MB for the rest
of your os and some cache buffers and that leaves you about 40MB you can
use for cache mem...

if you look at our squid box you see something like this:

Mem:
2065576K av,
2054912K used,
10664K free,
0K shrd,
193312K buff
740204K cached

24269 squid 25 0 963M 963M 872 R 48.0 47.7 842:35 squid

cache mem in this case is 512MB the total disk is 3 x 18GB
