  - Do you have any firewalling infrastructure between squid
 and the internet ?
 
  - If the problem occurs try :

     % telnet www.yahoo.com 80

    See if you get a connection,

  - If not try yahoo reachability through :
 
       http://visualroute.visualware.com/

  If that works, during a problem time window at your site,
  then you must have a local problem.
