Hello All,

Thank you Henrik, for pointing me to the cache.log file for my journey on
howto fix my "DEAD Parent" dilemma.

Here is what I found in the "cache.log" before running "squid -k
reconfigure"

2003/04/07 09:16:00| Detected DEAD Parent: 10.1.1.4/3128/3130
2003/04/07 09:17:47| Restarting Squid Cache (version 2.5.STABLE1)...
2003/04/07 09:17:47| FD 46 Closing HTTP connection
2003/04/07 09:17:47| FD 99 Closing ICP connection
2003/04/07 09:17:47| Cache dir '/usr/local/squid/var/cache' size remains
unchanged at 2048000 KB

Here is what I found in the "cache.log" after running "squid -k
reconfigure"

2003/04/07 09:19:29| Accepting HTTP connections at 0.0.0.0, port 3128, FD
49.
2003/04/07 09:19:29| Accepting ICP messages at 0.0.0.0, port 3130, FD 102.
2003/04/07 09:19:29| WCCP Disabled.
2003/04/07 09:19:29| Configuring Parent 10.1.1.4/3128/3130
2003/04/07 09:19:29| Loaded Icons.
2003/04/07 09:19:29| Ready to serve requests.

How can I fix this? I don't understand why running "squid -k reconfigure"
fixes the Dead Parent problem.

Regards
George
