Thanks Marc, Found a dead NIC! Doh!

Another question/problem

Web browsing is fine but using search engines times out!

Accessing say the Google search page. The page loads fast, enter a search
term and nothing happens. We're using an upstream proxy, but no problems if
we go direct via that cache (missing out our proxy). This is also true of
altavista etc.

using the following to access the upstream cache

cache_peer cachename.co.uk parent 8080 3130 no-query default
