Hi List

A friend of mine has been using squid's RPM installation (he didn't build
it from source) for some time but now he is getting the messages in his
cache.log

2003/07/13 22:12:43| WARNING! Your cache is running out of filedescriptors

so the question is "is there any way to increase the number of file
descriptors with out rebuilding the squid." he is using redHat 8.0 with
squid2.5 Stable2. ulimit -a shows outputs the following.

core file size (blocks, -c) 0
data seg size (kbytes, -d) unlimited
file size (blocks, -f) unlimited
max locked memory (kbytes, -l) unlimited
max memory size (kbytes, -m) unlimited
open files (-n) 1024
pipe size (512 bytes, -p) 8
stack size (kbytes, -s) 8192
cpu time (seconds, -t) unlimited
max user processes (-u) 7168
virtual memory (kbytes, -v) unlimited
