Hmm, I don't recall this being a known bug in squid 2.4S6.

Squid 2.4 is no longer actively maintained by the squid developers (*).
We actively support squid 2.5 and above only. So, I suggest you install
squid 2.5 Stable 3 from a nightly snapshot:
http://www.squid-cache.org/Versions/v2/2.5/squid-2.5.STABLE3-20030719.tar.bz2
