Easily - if you know a little Perl programming. Just write a small
script that does a "while(<STDIN>)", splits the username and password
and checks it at the database. Use this script as an external
authenticator (just like RADIUS or anything else) and you are set.

There may well be ready modules but this would not be too hard either.
