[squid-users] auth

Hi,
I have RH9 with squid. I want to activate the authentication on it, but when
i try it, the squid stop working. I recompiled the squid and the make, make
install in the ncsa directory on the src directory where made. When i
uncoment the line auth_param basic
program /usr/local/squid/libexec/ncsa_auth /usr/local/squid/etc/passwd
, the squid stop functioning. The files ncsa_auth and passwd are in the path
indicated. I did the same in another machine with RH8 and i did not work
either. What am I doing wrong?
