The Cache Manager does have an overall average requests per second, but
large blocks of idle time skew this value and make it largely useless.

I would recommend Squid Graph, a log analysis tool. It makes a graph of
requests per second and transfer rates based on 5-minute averages over a
24-hour period. Makes it easy to identify your peak and off-peak times.
