Looks like you have bootstrapped the Squid autotool files using the wrong
version of autoconf ant/or automake. If you need to regenerate the
autotool files (configure or Makefile.in etc) please make use of the
bootstrap.sh script and pay attention to warnings about incorrect
versions...

the recommendation is to not regenerate these and instead use the copies
distributed in the tarball.

This is a known bug with the Squid-2.5.STABLE5 tarball in that the -CVS
stamp is left in the version number if one regenerates the autotool
files.. See http://www.squid-cache.org/Versions/v2/2.5/bugs/ or grab
2.5.STABLE6.

Is there any specific reason to why you are regenerating the autotool
files?
