I am using Squid.2.4.Stable1 over Linux 7.3
With 512 MB RAM 500MHz PIII 9 GB 10000RPM SCSI

My squid is handling around 300 Users in peak times, the problem I am facing is the RAM, when I put the Traffic Load on SQUID it eats all the RAM in about 20 to 40 minutes.

Here is the output of free command.

[root@SQUID etc]# free
total       used       free     shared    buffers     cached
Mem:                            514444     507920       6524          0      29044     353164
-/+ buffers/cache            125712     388732
Swap:                           1124508          0    1124508

In such condition users get jerky and very slow response.

I have even tried to set cache_mem 0 MB but it doesn't work.

Any help ?.
Thanks and Regards,

Subtain
