 Robert.

 Squid it self cannot block the yahoo messenger (being
an http proxy) ..byt you can use ipfw or ipchains /
tables , which you would be using to forward the http
traffic to the squid listinig port.
You would need to first know how yahoo works as far as
establishing the connection is concerned.

You would need to block the port that it tries first
and then you would need to add a lenghty list of
servers that it tries to established the connection to
in the Port 80 .
how do you find out ..? install yahoo , and connect
and find out the port its using , block it.
then connect again and see where its going it would be
on port 80 , block that network . then keep on going
like this .
