In between you tested more recent releases, some of them
exihibiting this issue : in the worst case , the problem
lays for instance in code used in shared libs, provided
by the OS (libc for instance).

Advise : use the latest version of AIX, watchout for patches
concerning 'central' shared libs on the system.
